This week's writing report:
I write weekdays from 6am to 7:15am Pacific. Join me!
Monday, 4/29:
Wrote last two-thirds of a scene, and even though it’s messy I kind of love the idea of it! Approximately 500 words.
Tuesday, 4/30:
Paced for 10 minutes trying to decide what scene to draft next. Then brainstormed a list I could choose from next time and read part of a chapter from John Truby’s book, The Anatomy of a Story. (Ask me for my opinion of this book before you buy it.)
Wednesday, 5/1:
Gave it five minutes, then fell asleep on the floor next to the dog. After a short nap, I worked on a study guide for the next month’s Book Club, because it was weighing on my mind.
It is what it is. I choose not to beat myself up about it. (This is me coaching myself, FYI. )
Thursday, 5/2:
Started a new scene. Wrote about 500 words (I use a Freewrite for drafting, so there’s no word count feature.) Pretty sure that every roadblock I’m putting in front of my characters is a cliché. Decide not to worry about it until revision time.
Friday, 5/3:
I heard about the Plottr app yesterday and couldn’t resist playing with the free version of it for a few minutes. (I’ll keep you posted on whether I like it or not.) Somehow need to keep track of these scenes as I complete them, but there aren’t that many right now. Returned to the scene from yesterday and finished most of it. I don’t love it but I’m really trying to just keep working forward for now.
I share this regular update because it is all progress. One sentence is progress. Showing up is progress. No one is doing "better" than you. 💗
